What We Believe
What does GracePoint believe about the Bible?
The Bible is God’s word for mankind. It is relevant to all people, of all generations. It is infallible and powerful. It is both historically and scientifically accurate, and it is the basis of all theology and morality. It reveals the way to God and how to live! (2 Timothy 3:16, 1 Corinthians 2:13)
What does GracePoint believe about God?
There is one God. He reveals himself as: Father in creation, Son in salvation, and Holy Spirit in indwelling. The fullness of the Godhead is in Christ Jesus. (Deuteronomy 6:4, Colossians 2:9)
What does GracePoint believe about the Gospel?
The “good news” is that Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried, and resurrected in all power. We our commissioned to preach this gospel to all nations, and to obey it, through our own death, burial, and resurrection. (1 Corinthians 15, Romans 6, Romans 8, Colossians 2, Acts 2)
What does GracePoint believe about Sin and Salvation?
Everyone makes mistakes. These mistakes are called “sins” and they separate us from God. Therefore, we need salvation to restore us to God. Salvation comes by grace, through faith in Jesus Christ. Upon professing that faith, we must then obey the gospel. This obedience involves repentance (death to sin), water baptism by immersion; in Jesus name (burial of old man), and the infilling of the Holy Spirit; evidenced by speaking in tongues (resurrection of new life). (Acts 2, Acts 4, I John 1, Romans 6, Matt. 3, Acts 10, Isaiah 28, Mark 1)
What does GracePoint believe about Spirit Filled Living?
Every spirit filled believer should strive to fulfill the great commandments; to love God and to love their neighbor as themselves. We should also strive to live a life that is separated unto God. Salvation is only the beginning (new birth), and it will take time for each believer to develop and mature in their walk with him. Through a humble heart, and faithfulness to God and his word, we can learn to live holy and godly in this present world. (2 Cor. 7:1, 1 Peter 1:15-16, 1 Peter 2, Romans 12:2)
